The Legal department has a vacancy in its team for the following position:

Senior Legal Counsel (EMENA)

Responsible to provide guidance and sound advice to EMENA region and for that region i) act as good and pragmatic in-house counsel in a wide range of legal matters, including day-to-day matters, reviewing, negotiating and drafting agreements in several areas and legal projects; ii) ensure effective and efficient legal support to all relevant functions; iii) support on compliance and corporate governance processes; iv) manage existing litigation exposure and deploy litigation when necessary to protect the Business interest.

Manages corporate housekeeping matters for Spain and provides legal support to Spain site related matters.

The main activities and responsibilities

  • Provide high quality guidance and sound legal advice to Centrient’s business throughout EMENA region and is part of EMENA leadership team.
  • Act as good and efficient in-house counsel in reviewing, negotiating and drafting agreements in several areas (including material and tailor-made), with a special focus on purchase and sales related agreements (incl. distribution, agency, services, licenses, confidentiality).
  • Ensure effective and efficient legal support as business partner on various matters to several functions in EMENA Region and global matters, e.g. legal opinions, compliance matters roll-out of templates and (co-)providing trainings to business teams and provide legal advice where needed.
  • In cooperation with Deputy GC manage (potential) litigation matters.
  • Stay updated on developments in relevant legal areas and advise on appropriate measures.
  • Advocate and support within support areas Centrient Legal and Compliance requirements, provide internal trainings.  
  • Manage corporate housekeeping matters for Spain, Mexico and US, and support Spain site related legal matters.
  • Co-operate with fellow Centrient Legal Counsels in daily activities and participate in accomplishment of mission and objectives of Centrient Legal Affairs (e.g. sharing best practices).


Requirements

The Ideal Candidate

  • Master degree in law.
  • At least 5 to 8 years working experience in an (international) commercial legal environment and preferably combined with (international) experience in private practice.
  • Preferably at least 3 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Technically strong and having broad experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating large purchasing, sales, distribution/agency, license and services agreements and other related documents.
  • Strong Analytical skills.
  • Ability to translate (complex) business needs to sound and clear legal documents while capturing associated risks in the best possible way and provide clear and practical advice and guidance.
  • Strong, highly collaborative and flexible team player with a keen business acumen and good communication skills.
  • Self-starting, hands-on and pragmatic and able to cope with deadlines and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Service-minded,  responsive and precise working style.
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English.
