Senior Legal Counsel - Holding

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel with an entrepreneurial mindset to join our Holding Legal team in Amsterdam. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the core of Optiver’s global group structure, advising on a wide range of legal matters related to governance, regulatory frameworks, review and drafting of commercial and intra-group contracts, strategic corporate projects, and a variety of strategic investments.

What you’ll do

You will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, Finance, Tax, and Risk and will report into the Head of Legal of Optiver Holding. Your insights will be pivotal in supporting strategic decision-making and maintaining the integrity of Optiver’s group operations.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

• Advising on complex corporate and holding-level legal matters, including governance, cross-border transactions, and intragroup structuring.
• Supporting strategic investments, from initial due diligence through execution to maintenance, support, and integration.
• Supporting and collaborating with the other Holding and regional departments including Tax, Finance, Treasury, Compliance, Risk and Audit.
• Coordinating with external counsel and internal teams to ensure compliance with evolving local and global regulations.

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of legal documentation, including commercial contracts, (internal) SLA’s and group policies.
• Acting as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, offering proactive and pragmatic legal solutions to high-impact business issues.
• Driving legal risk management initiatives across the holding and affiliated entities.
• Contributing to group-wide legal strategy and knowledge sharing across Optiver’s legal function globally.

Who you are

• Legal professional with 10+ years’ post-qualification experience, preferably with a mix of top-tier law firm and in-house experience.
• Strong track record in corporate, commercial and/or financial regulatory law with a solid understanding of Dutch corporate law.
• Additional exposure to financial structures, IP, and employment law is preferred.
• A flexible, detail-oriented, pragmatic, pro-active, assertive, and results-driven professional with an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Affinity and ambition to work with (legal) AI tooling.
• Experience working in or with multinational corporate structures.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects across jurisdictions.
• Excellent judgment, with a solutions-oriented and commercial mindset.
• Team player with a good sense of humour.
• Fluent in English; other languages are a plus.
